Strengthens its structure to address the new challenges posed by the ecological transition in Catalonia.

The Extraordinary Territorial Assembly of UNEF in Catalonia, held yesterday, has re-elected Manel Romero, Managing Partner of Sud Renovables, and Daniel Pérez, Chief Legal Officer of Holaluz, as territorial delegates. Pérez expressed his satisfaction with the support of UNEFCAT members for his candidacy.

“I will engage in dialogue until the end of the world to ensure that solar energy can be installed in Catalonia. We will not give up. We must speak with everyone. My mandate is dialogue, dialogue, dialogue. My absolute commitment to making photovoltaics possible here,” he stated.

During yesterday’s Assembly, the creation of a Territorial Council was also approved, which will act as an advisory body for UNEFCAT and will be composed of Franc Comino, CEO of WEBATT; Esther Morlanes, General Manager of Alterna Energía; Xavier Navarro, Business Developer, Solideo; Ángel Verdú, General Manager Iberia, Menapy; and Pere Borràs, Director of Generation, Estabanell.

The objective is, as agreed at the Assembly held before the summer on May 28, to strengthen its structure to address the new challenges posed by the ecological transition in Catalonia.

UNEFCAT is now focused primarily on influencing the new draft of Decree Law 16/2019, which is about to be approved, to ensure that the measures it contained when approved two years ago are not modified or, if anything, are improved—such as the elimination of the hectare limitation for photovoltaic parks.

For UNEF, this measure is in line with the climate emergency declaration issued by the Government and the Parliament, contributes to defining an appropriate regulatory framework to promote the installation of large-scale and self-consumption projects, an essential element to achieve the regional targets set for 2030, according to which renewable energies will have to provide 50% of Catalonia’s electricity demand.
