October 9, 2025.- Alterna Energía, a company specializing in the development and maintenance of solar installations and energy storage solutions, strengthens its energy storage division with the award of 2 new BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) projects in Extremadura, specifically in Badajoz and Cáceres.
In total, the 2 battery storage projects will have an installed capacity of 35 MW and a storage capacity of 70 MWh, and their execution will be carried out progressively between 2025 and 2026, depending on the readiness of each site. The company will lead the project as a full-service integrator, covering the design, engineering, assembly, supply, installation, commissioning, and final testing of each system.
The execution of these projects consolidates Alterna Energía as one of the main EPC integrators in the BESS sector nationwide, expanding its territorial presence and its technological portfolio.
An in-house technical team and state-of-the-art technology
Alterna Energía directly handles key project phases, such as engineering, partial assembly, and on-site technical supervision, thanks to its highly qualified in-house technical team. Furthermore, these new projects will incorporate state-of-the-art technology, including high-performance LFP batteries in outdoor containers, bidirectional PCS systems with grid forming and blackstart capabilities, EMS systems with AI-driven optimization, native integration with PPC, trader functionalities for operation in electricity markets, as well as auxiliary systems, MVS, and medium voltage protections.
This is not the first project of its kind for the company, which already has two BESS plants in operation. This new award represents a significant expansion of its project portfolio, reinforcing its technological specialization and experience in the sector. Alterna Energía thus consolidates its position as a strategic player in the deployment of BESS solutions and strengthens its territorial presence.
