Alterna Energía, an expert company in photovoltaic self-consumption for businesses, has completed the construction of a 279.2 kWp photovoltaic plant for the Badajoz Irrigation Community – Montijo Canal. This plant will supply energy for pumping irrigation water from the Montijo Canal, covering an area of approximately 1,500 hectares of flat land, belonging to the municipalities of Guadiana, Novelda del Guadiana, Sagrajas, Gévora, and Valdebotoa.
This ground-mounted installation will achieve CO2 emission savings of 190.72 tons. The project, oriented towards self-consumption, will enable the annual production of 478,000 kWh of energy, with any surplus being sold.
Esther Morlanes, director of Alterna Energía, explains that “we work hand-in-hand with Irrigation Communities like Badajoz to develop self-consumption projects that allow them to improve their costs.”
